In the ever-evolving world of celebrity fashion trends, if there’s one star who can take a widespread style and infuse it with their unique essence, Rihanna frequently springs to mind, doesn’t she?

Rihanna, while commemorating the Fenty Beauty’s newest addition, the Soft’lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation, which retails at $40, in Los Angeles on April 26, proudly flaunted her distinctively (and slightly deep) square French manicure. The style was elevated with a shimmering chromatic dusting, a touch added by her nail artist, Kim Truong.

The billionaire businesswoman and Grammy recipient was queried on the red carpet about her nail shape preference between almond and coffin styles. Her response, albeit initially tentative as she glanced at her nails, was finally delivered with characteristic flair. “Almond,” she declared before clarifying, “They’re not almond or coffin… Square is my favorite,” dismissing the other options with a hint of playful sass.

However, Rihanna’s fondness for the square cut isn’t exactly a revelation, is it? Her recent nail choices have consistently showcased the square shape, from the fiery red hue at the FENTY x PUMA Creeper Phatty Earth Tone launch to a past display of a violet French tip, and not forgetting the square-shaped milk bath nails she sported last summer.

When the interviewer, Kirbie Johnson, mentioned Rihanna’s previous dalliance with coffin-shaped nails, the artist expressed surprise and a touch of distaste, “I’ve done coffin? Ew.” (No shade intended towards those who favor the coffin style, of course.)

To round off her effortlessly chic aesthetic, the mother of two styled her light blonde locks in a sleek manner, draping them down with her new bangs swept to the side for a fresh look that complemented her nails. So, with square-shaped French manicure, chrome effects, and side-swept bangs all checked off the list, what more could we possibly need to embrace this spring’s glam? Perhaps that’s a tougher question to tackle. For now, it seems, the best course of action might be to schedule our beauty appointments and savor the springtime sun. But, who knows? Maybe there’ll be more trendsetting tips to follow come next week.
