Paying homage to the event’s ceremonious flair, the songstress and actress opted for an arresting red gown etched with floral threadwork, courtesy of Oscar de la Renta. The design’s allure was heightened with a semi-sheer twist and an asymmetric hemline that paved the way for a daring thigh-high slit. Complementing her ensemble, Gomez chose strappy sandals by luxury designer Jimmy Choo and elevated her look with a selection of Pasquale Bruni jewelry – earrings, rings, and bracelets brought a refined sparkle.

Gomez’s stylist, Erin Walsh, known for her work with celebrities such as Ashley Park, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Alba, played a pivotal role in curating this eye-catching look. On the musical front, Gomez’s work has been acknowledged with three MTV VMA Award nominations this year for her collaborative track “Calm Down” with Rema, contending in categories such as Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, and Best Afrobeats.

August spotlighted Gomez with the release of her music video for “Single Soon,” which artistically nods to the beloved television show “Sex and the City.” In a memorable lyrical moment, “Should I do it on the phone? Should I leave a little note, in the pocket of his coat?” Gomez echoes a significant “Sex and the City” scene where Carrie Bradshaw receives a break-up note on a Post-it from Jack Berger, replicating the infamous, “I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me” message.

Beyond her successful music career, Gomez is also the entrepreneurial mind behind Rare Beauty. This cosmetics brand made its debut in 2020, securing its spot in North American Sephora stores, and subsequently broadening its reach to European and Middle Eastern markets in 2021.

The MTV Video Music Awards, a tradition since 1984, revels in the glamor and achievements of the music industry’s elite. Hosted by Nicki Minaj, the 40th celebration at the Prudential Center introduced a new category, Show of the Summer. In this noteworthy edition, Shakira was honored with the esteemed Video Vanguard Award and P Diddy received recognition for his international influence with the Global Icon Award.
