Meeting at the VMAs in 2012, they recognized the potential magnetic or disruptive force they could wield together. “We knew what we could bring to each other’s lives,” Rihanna mused on their relationship’s cautious beginnings.

The couple, which started dating toward the end of 2019, attribute a nudge in their courtship to the unforeseen global pandemic, accelerating their intimacy and leading to the start of a family much sooner than anticipated. “We would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready,” she confided on the unforeseen turn that propelled them further into their relationship, ultimately to “let go” and “let God.”
